1° Day Depart

April 23
2° Day
Arrival in
Rome
and transfer to San Giovanni Rotondo en route we will stop in
Lanciano to view the Miracle of the Eucharist . We will calibrate
our Holy Mass here. Later we continue on our journey to San
Giovanni Rotondo check into our Hotel. Welcoming drink. Dinner and
overnight stay.
April 24
3° Day
Breakfast at the hotel. Visiting today: the Old Church; the New
Church both dedicated to “Our Lady of the Graces”, the Grave; the
Cell; the Crucified of the Stigmatas; the monumental Francesco
Messina’s Way of the Cross (1971). You can also visit the Renzo
Piano’s
New
Church
where it is possible to admire the masterpieces of important
comtemporary artists: Arnaldo Pomodoro’s Crucified Christ, Giuliano
Vangi’s ambo, Domenico Paladino’s bronze door and biggest mechanical
pipe organ built in Foligno by “Fabbrica Pinchi”. Return to the
hotel. In the afternoon excursion to Monte Sant’Angelo where you can
visit the ancient Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel, a
medieval pilgrimage destination, the St. Peter’s Romanic complex and
the medieval suburban district called “Lo Iunno”. Return to the
hotel, dinner and overnight
stay.
April 25
4° Day
Breakfast. Trip to Pietrelcina, St. Pio’s hometown. Here it is
possible to visit the Church of the Capuchin Friars longed for Padre
Pio and built between 1926 and 1951, Our Lady of the Angels’ Parish
where St. Pio celebrated his first Mass on August 14, 1910, the
ancient suburb with the turret, the birthplace, the kitchen, St.
Ann’s Church. Lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon trip to
Piana Romana to visit the Forgione’s farm. Near the St. Francis
Chapel, there is still the “elm of the stigmatas”, the “seggiolone”
(big chair) and the well sunk by his father in the place that the
young Pio indicated. Return to the hotel. Dinner. After dinner you
can participate in the rosary at St. Pio’s tomb.
